This month, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced that it will award $24.7 million in grants for 208 humanities projects. “These NEH grants will support educators and scholars in enriching our understanding of the past and enable cultural institutions from across the country to expand their offerings, resources, and public programming, both in person and online,” said NEH Acting Chair Adam Wolfson. “We look forward to the many new insights and discoveries that these 208 exemplary projects will make possible.”

Fifteen AASLH members were among the grant winners, and their total grants amount to over $2.5 million dollars. We congratulate them all on the hard work that led to these awards, and look forward to seeing the results of their endeavors. Read the full press release here.

Project Description: Five Preserving digital Objects With Restricted Resources (POWRR) program training sessions on the standards, processes, and tools used to curate and preserve digital objects using open-source software. The 150 participants would largely come from grassroots cultural heritage organizations responsible for the curation and preservation of materials of historically marginalized groups, including Native Americans, African Americans, and members of the Latinx community.
